Pinto (POR) wins in record time

Luis Leão Pinto (POR) wins the Salzkammergut Trophy 2013 in record time, ahead of Ondrej Fojtik (CZE) and Rupert Palmberger (GER). Pinto completed the course in 9:53:38. This is the first time the challenge has been completed in under 10 hours since Willi Vorderderfler in 2005.

Katja Hentschel (GER) wins sovereign

At the women competition Katja Hentschel (GER), who participated for the first time at the extreme distance in Bad Goisern, wins after 13:41:53 – more than half an hour later runner up Michela Ton from Itlay passes the finishing line. Daniela Genovesi from Brasil was more than happy to complete on third rank. Rank four Gisela Makowski from Germany.

For the first time in history of the Salzkammergut-Trophy eight women crossed the finishing line of the 211 km course!

Third place last year, this year winner!! The Austrian Hermann Pernsteiner (Team RAD.SPORT.SZENE) kept his toughest competitor David Schöggl from Team Zweirad Janger Simplon at a comfortable distance on the Hallstätter Salzberg, winning the race with more than 8 minutes ahead. Third rank Martin Feichtegger (Orthomol Kaiser Racing Team).

The Upper Austrian Sabine Sommer improves her last year’s timing by ten minutes and crosses the finishing line before of Tamara Muhr and the German Tanja Trinkwalter.

Course F

Fastest Junior on the 37,9 kilometre distance is Samuel Gaze from New Zealand, who comes in second only 40 seconds behind Fabian Costa (Hai PowerBike Team) from Tyrol. Third place, also from New Zealand, Adrian Retief from Auckland MTB Club. Followed by two bikers from the Intersport-Genesis Teams. Lukas Kaufmann takes place 4 in the overall rating and Elias Tranninger from Bad Goisern second in the Junior age group.

 

At the women, Tina Kindlhofer from Kirchberg, Tyrol wins by far, second runner up Lisa Lechner from Salzburg and best Junior Larissa Schweighofer from Styria.

Three rows and more the spectators lined up in order to cheer the young bikers crossing the start/finishing line at the Junior-Trophy in Bad Goisern! 401 starters – more than ever before – in 8 different age groups tackled the race demonstrating that there are plenty of young talents coming along.  

In the age group U17, last years’ winner Daniel Katzmayer, son of Trophy long distance winner of 1998 Gerhard Katzmayer, wins again, second runner up Christian Aistleitner and third place Lorenz Neubauer. At the girls competition Julia Zeininger wins, followed by Carmen Wimmer and Marlene Lichtenegger.

Favorite Federspiel wins Trophy-Eliminator!

In a spectacular finish, favourite and world cup leader Daniel Federspiel wins the premiere of the Trophy-Eliminator, runner up are Samuel Gaze (NZL) and his team mate Karl Markt. Thousands of fans were cheering when the Tyrolean demonstrated his predominance, winning each run and still stayed focused although he had problems with the pedals.  
Austrian double victory for the women competition: Lisa Mitterbauer wins, runner up Franziska Niederacher! Place three for Adela Krejcarkova from the Czech Republic.

The courses E (men) und F (women) also offered a special rating for bikers with handicap. Incredible top performances were demonstrated by the winners. In the men’s competition all three first places were won by Germans. Thomas Schäfer managed to cross the finishing line at rank 40 among 1.000 finishers with a time of 2:41:18, followed by Thomas Beckstein and Ralf Haupt. Among the women the first three places were also German: Yvonne Marzinke wins, runner up Michela Grassinger

Weichenberger wins Unicycle-Downhill for the 4th time

Bad Goisern, as usually: the Upper Austrian David Weichenberger and the Czech Jakub Rulf share their victories. This time both World Champions were just a few seconds apart in a thrilling finish run. Gerald Rosenkranz from Graz comes in third.

And again, the women competition goes to Germany for the fifth time. Anna Lena Blaschke wins 20 seconds ahead, runner up the twin sisters Tina und Alexandra Pötz from Styria. Already last year the twins came in second and third.
 
To the delight of the OK-Team there has been a new recorded in number of participants in 2013: for the first time more than 100 unicyclists were at the starting line.

Top-Class Starters

For the 600 toughest among the mountain bikers the race starts already on July 13th 05:00 am! Here the maniacs line up at the market square inorder to tackle the incredible extreme distance of 211,3 kilometers and 7,049 change in altitude - the toughest mountain bike marathon in Europe. For this challenge only diehard pros - the top three of last year - Ondrej Fojtik (CZE), Olympic Winner Bart Brentjens (NED) and several German Champion Max Friedrich, as well as Trophy Winner 2011 Wolfgang Krenn from Liezen have signed up.
Last years' winner Natascha Binder (GER) had to unfortunatey cancel due to illness. The runner up - Michaela Ton (ITA) - is therefore favorite in this race.

The course

Numerous thunderstorms of the past months have also heavliy effected the Trophy courses. However, until Friday the recontruction should be completed. It seems that all 7 distances are going to be open as initially planned.

On the Hallstatt Salzberg one has now clear view of the lake and the surrounding mountains, but also from a sporty point of view. This is a key section for winning the extreme course. Information and humours comments as always by our great talk host Engelbert Buttinger. There are coupons for the Salzberg cable car in the Trophy voucher booklet. Round trip would be only 6,50 Euros instead of 13,00 Euros.

61 km "All-Mountain-Course"

The all new „All Mountain“ Distance aims at the special requests of Fully-Bikers" The 61 kilometers long course is technically challenging and offers besides three most difficult down hills of the extreme distance, a new rather tricky trail. The start of the All Mountain Marathon takes place in front of the Ischler Trinkhalle, finish is at the market square in Bad Goisern.

Among the favorites of the new course are the Upper Austrian Roman Rametsteiner and Karl Markt from Tyrol and Daniel Federspiel.

July 14 - SCOTT Junior Trophy

Kids and teens in the age groups from thee up to 16 can demonstrate their bike skills at the ASVÖ SCOTT Junior Trophy. Every participant receives a “gingerbread medal” as well as their personal Trophy T-Shirt.

The top three girls and boys of each age group are awarded with trophies. After the winners’ ceremony at 04:00 pm, there will be a raffle with great non-cash prizes among all present participants. The main prize is a SCOTT Mountain Bike of one’s choice worth 1.000 Euros and a pair of Fischer-Ski.

The most beautiful mountain bike races in the World will be presented on Friday  afternoon in the Gemeindeamt on the second floor. All organizers will be on site and are happy to answer your questions after the film presentation but also on the next day at the Expostand from Bike & More.

Trophy Eliminator

The new Trophy-Eliminator competition promises pure action sprint races in the center of Bad Goisern on Friday from 03:00 pm. In each race four bikers will compete; the two best will make it to the next round. In the finals around 05:00 pm there will be a battle between the best four women and best four men fighting for a total of 3.150 prize money.

Besides several times Austrian Champion Daniel Federspiel, Olympic winner Bart Brentjens from the Netherlands and last year’s winner of the extreme distance Ondrej Fojtik (CZE) as well as multiple German Master Max Friedrich have signed up so far!

Accommodations and Arrival

Our Partner Hotels are located in Bad Goisern and vicinity. Enjoy the superb service and comfort for an optimal preparation. Most of them offer lockable rooms for bikes! In most cases bikes may be taken to the rooms.  

The journey as well as the bike transportation is for free with Special Trains of the ÖBB from hotels along the Traunsee, in Bad Ischl, Obertraun, Bad Mitterndorf and the towns in-between to the three starting locations! There is also an additional shuttle service from Obertraun, Hallstatt, Gosau and Bad Ischl to Bad Goisern.

Camping and Mattresses

The Soccer Field  of the SV Bad Goisern will turn into a camping site from the 8th until the 17th of July. The camp offers WCs and showers, cafeteria, bike wash area and free WIFI access. There is plenty of space at the camp, however for motor homes please make a reservation until July 07th at camp@trophy.at.

There is also an “emergency accommodation” on mattresses in the gym of the "Neuen Mittelschule" (HS1) from Friday to Saturday!

The new course map is online! Next week we will start with the sign posting. However, sections marked with dotted lines in the course map may be only biked at the race day! Please respect this restriction otherwise we will not be able to use these sections in the future!

Attention! The Traun bridge in Görb closed due to construction, but open on the race day!

More than 70 exhibitors present their newest bike inventions during the Trophy weekend. Many stands offer special expo rates, free samples, sweepstakes or test bikes

Teamwertung

Team Rating

Local, Club or Company teams can compete with other teams on the courses A, B, C, D and E. The three fastest bikers of each team will be rated together. If six or more team bikers on the same course reach the finishing line a second group is automatically formed bHowever the slow motion rating requires slowness! Those teams who biked the longest win the prizes!

On Saturday (at fair weather only) after the marathon join the "Open-Night" at the expo!

“Talk shop” with the exhibitors until there is no more beer! Also enjoy the “chill out zone” right next to the expo area in the inner court of the Castle Neuwildenstein as of 06:00 pm and don’t miss DJ Mäd Mäxx great party from 11:00 pm until morning dawn!

The Trophy T-Shirts are available for all participants in the elementary school. Upon availability there are four colours: Tango Red, Green Flash, Biscay Bay and Dark Denim – in the seize XS to 3XL. In addition there are also women seizes 36, 38 and 40.
